Will this review be given much thought by people on Yelp? Probably not considering this place has existed as far back as my memories go and I'm only the 4th to review it. But none the less, I will write a review so eventually some bored person from my 2nd grade class one day might be visiting their parents back home like I currently am looking for a bite to eat and see a review from me and scoff at my 4 star rating.

Evergreen is the first Chinese food I ever remember eating. The man who owns it can be found sitting in the same seat for the last 20+ years. The consistency has never failed me. It's always the same Americanized Chinese food no matter what. This place is the main take out joint for the Milton section of Jefferson but today I met up with an old friend and we decided to sit down for lunch.

Upon arriving it was empty, my friend commented how he had never actually eaten inside before even though it is his favorite Chinese restaurant. They do great lunch specials which have probably only gone up a dollar since they opened many years ago. I got the chicken with hot garlic sauce and a shrimp egg roll. My friend got egg foo yung and a pork egg roll. Everything was served really hot except for my green tea which was luke warm. We both also asked for waters but never received them but I am sure the owner was overwhelmed actually having people eat in the restaurant!

All in all- this place holds a very special place in my heart and has never failed to give me a hot, cheap meal.

Save your money, my 7 year old that would eat cold pizza wouldn't have a second bite. Don't bother.

Have not been here for some time, they must have changed hands,Gave it two stars  for location. They were rude seemed to be annoyed you we're ordering, and no one was in the restaurant.Food was brought out and did not tell you it was ready.Seemed expensive too for noodles, two egg rolls two sodas it was 15' dollars!?What was I thinking not to go to my regular good Asian food place. Not to mention if you are not using plastic, you can save the planet and request polypails only for your food.Go to Kambo.

My husband and I have been ordering takeout from Evergreen for over ten years.  It's the best Chinese food in town.  A bit pricey, but that seems to be the case for most Chinese places these days.  Everything we get is delicious, and the shrimps are big and fresh.  The owner may come across as not very friendly, but he's actually nice.
The only negative is that the inside is actually horrid.  Dingy and old, with tons of cobwebs all over the ceiling.  They're always selling used books or toys in the waiting area, which is kind of weird.

Yesterday I ordered sesami and curry chicken.
Everything tasted great and very fresh. The guy who took the order over the phone was very pleasant too. My husband said at least 6 times how much he loved the food so felt that I must leave a review.
